Plenty of Space in the Easyspace Cloud

Easyspace, one of the UK’s largest domain name and web services providers, has announced its new Virtual Private Server Standard package offering 1024MB RAM on either Linux or Windows based servers.

Easyspace’s Standard Cloud Virtual Servers deliver more control over websites providing dedicated resources like RAM and disk space, unlike a traditional shared hosting service, making them the ideal choice for dynamic content and e-commerce sites.

The new standard packages offer scalability and burstable memory meaning customers don’t have to worry about upgrading to a new machine if they start off with a basic website and eventually expand, whether by adding more sites, or even by increasing traffic.

An Easyspace Cloud VPS server can be set up in minutes, allowing customers to offer new services or release new content to market quickly and effectively. Applications can be deployed, tested and fine tuned before being released to production environments, negating the usual install delays. Seasonal traffic spikes can be countered and simply managed using Easyspace’s on demand cloud VPS control.

To celebrate the launch of these new standard cloud packages, Easyspace is offering all customers a 25% lifetime discount on the service. All customers will be able to purchase a Virtual Server Hosting package for GBP 14.99 until 30th November 2010: more space for less cost – a perfect combination.

Full details can be found at: http://www.easyspace.com/virtual_servers/standard_vps.

Founded in 1997, Easyspace has grown to become one of the largest providers of domain names and web services in the UK. Over the past decade, Easyspace has gained a reputation for offering high quality and innovative products backed by excellent customer service. The company has grown to become one of Europe’s largest hosting companies serving over 300,000 consumer and SOHO customers.

Angus MacSween, CEO, iomart Group stated: “In the first half of the financial year we continued to successfully grow both the size and quality of our customer base. iomart is one of the very few, trusted UK providers of complex hosting services and this has led to exceptionally low churn and high recurring revenues from existing and new customers.”

“We’re very pleased with the progress we’ve achieved during the first half of the year, with all of our hosting brands performing well over the period. All brands have continued to innovate in their respective markets and have focused on improving quality of service and customer retention, in line with the Group’s strategy of becoming the UK’s foremost managed hosting provider.”

Having reached an inflexion point last year, the Group continues to trade profitably.

“We’ve seen a significant increase in our EBITDA profitability in our existing operations, and we expect this to be further accelerated by our acquisition of Titan Internet post period.”

iomart Group acquired Essex based managed hosting company Titan Internet Limited for GBP4.2 million at the end of October. The Group expects the acquisition to be immediately earnings enhancing before the one off costs of integration synergies.

The Group also revealed that its corporate hosting arm, iomart Hosting, has organically increased its customer base by 50% and that much of this growth is attributable to cloud services.

Angus MacSween stated: “Cloud computing is definitely proving to be a game changer in the way that organisations are viewing their IT service delivery. We are witnessing a paradigm shift away from traditional on premise models to the cloud, but for many organisations the move to the cloud will prove challenging and a whole host of technical and business process issues will need to be addressed for a successful migration.”

“Increasingly organisations will turn to suppliers that have the proven technical skills, infrastructure and tools to help them develop the processes that will keep them in control of their IT, thus fully delivering the maximum benefits that the cloud undoubtedly offers.”

“Our strategy is simple. We have a highly experienced and innovative technology team and we are currently using all the flavours of virtualisation technologies to develop ‘private and hybrid clouds’ for mission critical applications which we provide under our 100 percent uptime guarantee. Using our multiple data centres we can provide an enviable level of resilience and backup/disaster recovery options, all of which gives us a tremendous head start in this embryonic marketplace.”

“In addition to our organic revenue growth, we’re especially delighted at the levels of additional business that we are gaining from our brands’ existing customer base. Our range of high quality services combined with investment in technological innovation means we believe we are very well positioned to continue to deliver strong growth.”

Fujitsu Makes Cloud Computing Dynamic

Fujitsu have announced that it sets new worldwide standards for cloud services with its Global Cloud Platform – and introduces the Dynamic Cloud, a new set of pre-integrated and configured services enabling easier migration to private or hybrid cloud-based services.

Providing a bridge between today’s largely on-premise datacenter infrastructures and tomorrow’s cloud-based delivery models, the new homogeneous Global Cloud Platform underlines Fujitsu’s truly worldwide service delivery capabilities as a trusted and reliable full-scale IT provider.

The Fujitsu Dynamic Cloud gives customers complete control over the critical make-or-break factors for enterprise cloud adoption. By providing policy- and business requirement-based choice over granular factors such as the physical location and future portability of data, Fujitsu removes the major stalling points of compliance and lock-in.

In introducing a new standard for its cloud services around the world, Fujitsu is enabling its customers to better serve their customers. Guaranteed local hosting and data mirroring at strategic points around the world overcomes latency issues for services delivered remotely, enabling ‘anytime, anywhere’ web-based services and on-demand access to applications.

Through global harmonisation, Fujitsu also provides consistency on all elements of cloud including dynamic, agile utilisation, Service Level Agreement (SLA)-based uptime, pricing, billing and support – no matter where in the world they are deployed.

Fujitsu has now completed the build-out of a global network of energy-efficient Tier 3+ data centers offering the highest levels of data protection, reliability of service, and security – enabling the introduction of its Global Cloud Platform. By switching to Fujitsu-hosted cloud services, customers will enjoy full compliance with applicable local legislation, plus peace of mind in terms of the ultimate levels of security and privacy, and SLA-based availability. The first implementations are expected to go live in April 2011.

Dynamic Cloud platform

Fujitsu’s Dynamic Cloud of globally-linked standardised offerings builds on the Infrastructure as a Service offering launched in Central Europe, Middle East, Africa and India (CEMEA&I) in November 2009. As enterprises migrate services, Dynamic Cloud provides easy portability of applications and support for key business processes.

Customers are also freed from the prospect of cloud lock-in. Fujitsu recognises that portability of data across data centers and hosted service providers is critical, therefore also making open Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) available. As businesses continually evaluate where their cloud based business processes belong, and look out for “better, faster, cheaper” solutions, so Fujitsu’s Dynamic Cloud Platform is designed to ensure ease of access and portability of data, both among partners, and in and out of a Fujitsu cloud, when and where needed.

“Completion of the Fujitsu Global Cloud Platform and introduction of the Dynamic Cloud are two huge steps that enable our customers to accelerate their adoption of cloud computing,” says Andre Kiehne, Vice President Services at Fujitsu Technology Solutions. “No matter where you are in the world, Fujitsu now provides a delivery platform for cloud services at a consistent standard – just the same as customers expect from our hardware products. Our Dynamic Cloud is based on this comprehensive framework, and provides cloud-enabling technology by provisioning the right mix of traditional and cloud IT services – as well as cast iron guarantees when it comes to future portability.

“Paying only for the services they use, businesses have the option to ‘try before they buy’ and to quickly implement services that deliver real business value,” says Kiehne. “These combined offerings set Fujitsu apart from other cloud vendors and pave the way for additional layers of cloud services that we are planning for the future – such as platform as a service.”

Fujitsu enables cloud bursting

The new infrastructure enables customers to switch data and services between private and trusted clouds, in a process known as “cloud bursting”. By allowing the exchange of data and seamless interface between private and trusted cloud, and between hosted and on-premise services, customers are able to offload entire IT infrastructures to cloud environments – and start reaping the benefits in terms of cost control and guaranteed service availability.

Fujitsu is demonstrating an “agriculture cloud” at VISIT, the Fujitsu Forum Europe event which takes place in Munich, Germany, on November 24th and 25th. This portrays how traditional farmers are able to make use of our cloud technology to successfully manage their business – and to enable the easier migration of successive generations of farmers, through knowledge and resource sharing.

Fujitsu is a leading provider of ICT-based business solutions for the global marketplace. With approximately 170,000 employees supporting customers in 70 countries, Fujitsu combines a worldwide corps of systems and services experts with highly reliable computing and communications products and advanced microelectronics to deliver added value to customers. Headquartered in Tokyo, Fujitsu Limited (TSE:6702) reported consolidated revenues of 4.6 trillion yen (US$50 billion) for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2010. RackForce Launches Basic Version of Infrastructure Cloud

Canadian hosting and data center provider RackForce Networks announced on Tuesday it has added Dynamic Datacenter Services Cloud – Basic service.

The entry level cloud service starts at $79 per month and an SLA of nearly 100 percent to its cloud services portfolio.

As RackForce’s new base service, ddsCloud-B is designed to support applications with less stringent requirements, such as development & test and tier 2 applications.

Just over a year ago, RackForce launched its original ddsCloud service which is the company’s premier cloud computing service.

RackForce’s ddsCLoud-B Cloud service is hosted in its GigaCenter data centers in Kelowna, British Columbia, while its ddsCloud-E service is hosted in its 151 Front Street facility in Toronto.

The company recently upgraded its 30,000 square foot GigaCenter, adding extra power and cooling to support the growth of its cloud business.

“Our high performance ddsCloud infrastructure was designed to offer a multi-tier cloud service for varying workloads,” says Tim Dufour, CEO and president of RackForce. “In April 2010 we successfully launched our enterprise class cloud service for critical workloads. Now with the ddsCloud-B we will be providing a cloud service for less demanding, less critical workloads, at an even lower price point.”

The ddsCloud-B will be dynamically scalable to, or from, RackForce’s existing enterprise cloud offering as both products use VMware as their virtualisation platform and both are connected to RackForce’s 10Gbps converged network and SAN fabric.

ddsCloud-B is now available through the RackForce website and its select reseller partners. Visit www.rackforce.com for more information.

Radiant expands national cloud infrastructure in Toronto

Radiant Communications Corp. have announced the opening of its cloud datacenter located in Toronto, expanding the company’s cloud computing infrastructure to two facilities. Radiant’s other facility is located in Vancouver. Together, the two datacenters provide one of the widest cloud computing footprints in the country.

“The availability of Radiant’s AlwaysThere Enterprise Cloud platform in Toronto gives companies greater geographic options when selecting their cloud or managed hosting partner,” said Radiant’s President and CEO, David Buffett. “Located at a central downtown address, the Toronto facility provides companies situated near the datacenter with the added advantage of geographic proximity and high end-user performance.

“The central location of our facility in downtown Toronto minimises network latency for Toronto based customers and provides a disaster recovery location for our Vancouver based clients,” said Buffett.

When a company selects a cloud hosting provider, the services are typically delivered from a single datacenter, making the customer vulnerable to disaster based outages in that area.

Radiant has two datacenters situated in Western and Eastern Canada, which allows customers to select the datacenter nearest their offices, providing the best end user experience possible while also taking advantage of Radiant’s disaster recovery services hosted in the other datacenter.

Another competitive advantage of Radiant’s AlwaysThere cloud infrastructure is that it is based in Canada and not subject to the U.S. Patriot Act. Under the provisions of this legislation, American authorities can access and collect companies’ data without their knowledge or consent.

“Some Canadian businesses want assurance that their data will remain under the jurisdiction of Canadian privacy laws,” said Buffett. “They are more comfortable knowing their data is kept here, always under the control of a Canadian corporation.”

Radiant’s infrastructure reflects this focus on privacy. “Our approach is quite unique in Canada in that we bundle cloud services with high-speed business Internet and private networking security products to create a hosted ‘private cloud’ with security and user experiences comparable to any internal IT infrastructure,” said Buffett.

AlwaysThere cloud-based solutions are flexible, reliable and affordable. Radiant’s AlwaysThere products are sold on a pay-as-you-use pricing model. Virtual servers are available from $149 per month and the company’s flagship Hosted Microsoft Exchange service is available for between $4.95 and $14.95 per user, per month.

Radiant’s AlwaysThere services are sold by a direct sales force to midsize businesses in Canada and through partner programs with IT service vendors across the country.

About Radiant

In operation since 1996, Radiant currently serves over 20,000 business locations in Canada and the United States from its offices in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal.

Hostway Corporation Launches FlexCloud Servers

Hostway Corporation, a global leader in infrastructure and web application hosting, today announced the release of FlexCloud Servers, a scalable, on-demand cloud computing solution that combines the flexibility of a public cloud with the reliability and performance of an enterprise grade virtual environment. Hostway delivers a pay-as-you-grow, elastic, enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure that can be self-provisioned and administered 24 hours a day, giving the customer full administrator access and complete control to scale individual computing resources.

FlexCloud Servers were designed to be one of the most flexible, reliable, and easy to use cloud hosting solutions on the market. An intuitive web-based management console enables users to create and self manage multiple clouds; automating the administration of resources including server instances, CPU/RAM/Disk, IP addresses, security, load balancing and more. Public and private image libraries facilitate saving and cloning of images, user initiated snapshots save multiple states, and backups are automatically scheduled and performed. With FlexCloud, provisioning takes minutes, enabling near real time availability of resources to meet growth and variability requirements.

Unlike most public clouds, FlexCloud Servers incorporates high availability features including automated failover of instances, fully redundant host, network, and storage hardware, and enterprise class Storage Area Networks to increase performance and reliability. With FlexCloud, users sacrifice neither speed nor reliability to gain the flexibility of true cloud computing.

“We’re thrilled to write the next chapter of the Hostway leadership in the cloud” says Todd Benjamin, vice president of Enterprise Hosting for Hostway. “With FlexCloud Servers we picked and chose the best that cloud technologies and business models have to offer, creating a package of features and functionality that is unparalleled in the industry.”

To further encourage users to experience the benefits of FlexCloud, Hostway is offering a revolutionary pricing model known as Automatic Price Protection. With this model, pricing will automatically be set at the LOWER of the usage based or fixed monthly rating. CIOs can realise the best of both worlds – pay as you go for low or variable utilisation, with the predictability of a fixed monthly cap on the amount that a resource will cost. Price Protection is virtually unheard of in the industry today.

FlexCloud Servers can now be ordered online at http://www.hostway.com/cloud-servers. For more information about Hostway’s purpose optimised cloud platforms and cloud based applications visit http://www.hostway.com.
