In preparation for the release of its own cloud offering, Sun Microsystems has released a cloud portfolio of services to help business evaluate their readiness for the cloud and then to build a road-map for them to reach that goal.
An important point to note is that whilst the services are tailored towards their own cloud offering they are keeping the portfolio open and will work with whatever technology the client chooses. Given that sun is listed on the Open Cloud Manifesto supporters page it is refreshing to see a large service provider actively championing the initiative.
Amy O�Connor, vice president of services marketing for Sun said in an interview “You want to jump on the [cloud computing] bandwagon and hope it takes you with it, but there�s a lot of hard work that goes on underneath”
