Google announces new Wave service

Google have just announced a new service called Google Wave, an open communication and collaboration platform. The technology will be available later this year although an exact date has not been set.

The tool uses operational transformations between the client and server to track document changes. The Google developer in the video below “David Wang” also talks about the live messaging system that updates conversations at real time as opposed to the conventional means of receiving a sentence or block of text at the point where the user presses the send button.
